I read the article “Falmouth panel suggests cap on new rural homes” with interest, and found it a bit troubling that the chairman of the Long Range Planning Advisory Committee was quoted as saying that one of the goals of the proposed changes was to relieve the burden of the Board of Zoning Appeals.

I had the privilege of serving on that board for seven years, with four as the chairman. I never found that service to be burdensome; occasionally unpleasant when the board is required to inform appellants that they will not be allowed to do something with property that they rightfully own. If any of the current board members find their duties to be burdensome, perhaps they should consider seeking another opportunity to serve.
