Residents of Cumberland circulated a petition and collected 600 signatures from voters to bring to ballot referendum Question 2. The wording is cumbersome and confusing, but it all comes down to character.

Cumberland has always had a character of integrity and timelessness that appeals to everyone who chooses to live here. We can go to the farmers market on Saturday at Town Hall and buy all of our food from farmers that live within ten miles of us. We know many of those farmers by name. We are close to Interstate 295, yet we feel like we live in a world apart.

Vote no on Question 2. Help Cumberland retain it’s character and integrity. In April 2007, Harris Road was closed for flooding. Emergency access was not a problem at all, and it never has been since the town was incorporated. This place is special. Let’s keep it that way.
