There are so many reasons to vote for Democrat Janet Mills for governor, but the most important, for me, is that Mills will fight for children. Future generations will be so deeply affected by our choices today. Brain science reveals the importance of ages up to 3, but our social policy provides almost no support for affordable high-quality child care or for family caregiving. I believe Mills will support paid family leave and subsidized child care. Mills will support environmental health rules that keep dangerous chemicals out of children’s toys and that help families address lead paint. Mills will not blame kids for being hungry, nor will she focus on punishing parents for being poor. Instead, I believe Janet Mills will fight for policies that support our youngest children by supporting their families. Please join me in voting for Janet Mills, in honor of those too young to vote.
