The gubernatorial primary election will be held on June 8 and we need a leader who understands the political process and has a proven track record in business. Some of the candidates have strong political backgrounds, but lack any business experience. Other candidates have a strong business background but have never held elected office. In my opinion, only one candidate has the depth of experience from both perspectives that we will need in our next governor.

Pat McGowan has owned and operated small businesses, held elective office, run the Small Business Administration in the northeast, and most recently as the conservation commissioner has been very involved in the kind of alternative energy and green economy initiatives that will drive the new economy in Maine for generations.

We should truly appreciate the efforts of each candidate from both parties, and all have shown they are true leaders for today and the future. Of all of them, Pat McGowan stands out above the rest for having the right mix of business and political experience that we will need as we enter a new era for the State of Maine.
