I would like to commend The Forecaster for having the courage to include Julie McDonald-Smith’s views from the right. Her recent warning to parents of college-bound students (high-schoolers take note as well, I might add) exposes the left’s equality-gone-wild agenda. Human value and the inherent rights of equality under the law is one thing, we all agree. It is the supposition, predominantly on the left, that this equates with economic value. These two value judgements are not one and the same. In our society, human value is unlimited. However, economic value of a human in a capitalist system has inherent limitations. Further, it is the right’s fervent belief it is the individual’s responsibility to affect change of those limitations and reducing impediments to the opportunity is the human thing to do.
