I read this front-page story regarding Town Landing Market being sold by Dan Groves (“Iconic Town Landing Market to be sold”). All was well until I nearly choked on my coffee, reading Pam Groves’ memory-insulting comment that Stu Ryder and her husband turned the store into what people know today, saying, “It was just a store, but they gave it personality.”

I see it differently. Tom Randall (who preceded Stu) was the “personality” of the store for years, and he and his family made it a welcoming, friendly and fun place to stop. Stu (and his beagle) continued that welcoming atmosphere. After Stu’s death that feeling was gone, and I stopped frequenting the store. I defend my memories of Tom Randall and the TLM that once was.
