I am writing to express my wholehearted support for Democrat Cathy Breen for the Maine Senate in District 25. During her tenure as chairwoman of the Falmouth Town Council, Cathy, while very supportive of the schools in general, was never shy about probing into the particulars of our budget and challenging us on how we might operate more efficiently on behalf of the students and the taxpayers. I was also so impressed with her thorough understanding of how different layers of our government worked, and how we might, as a state, streamline public services in order to provide a more effective and less costly government. She really has a solid understanding of both town and county governments that will help her hit the ground running in Augusta.
Finally, I always heard Cathy express respect for those with whom she disagreed. We need that kind of civil and civic leadership in the Legislature.
