I am writing to express my strong support of Katherine “Kate” Lewis for South Portland City Council. I have known Kate since our daughters, now in South Portland public elementary schools, were in preschool together. Our conversations are often “between moms” – thinking about what is best for our children, now and into the future.
I’ve come to recognize Kate as a passionate advocate, someone who arrives at decisions through respectful listening to those with varied perspectives, and through thoughtful analysis. I also admire Kate’s commitment to public service, evidenced by her several volunteer efforts in the community – advocacy groups, professional organizations, and her church – often taking on leadership roles in those endeavors.
Most of all, I trust Kate. I trust that as a city councilor she will bring her many strengths to this role and that she will do so for the benefit of our children and all our city’s residents.
