I am honored to be elected to the South Portland City Council and want to thank people for all their support, including voting for me and helping in so many different ways during the campaign. A special thank you goes to those who were willing to offer a day of their time to recount ballets. The votes for Kate Lewis and I were close and I hope that she will be elected to serve next year; voters supported us both.
Seven people ran for the two council seats and that shows that people care and are involved in what happens in our city. That is a good thing. I believe that all of us working together can advance our economy, protect our environment, develop affordable housing, provide excellent lifelong education and develop a community with care and concern for all. Based on respect, we all need to talk and listen and really hear one another as we go forward.
Thank you for allowing me the opportunity to serve our city. I will do my best to do a good job, and will need and seek your input.
