As the owner of Live Well Farm in Harpswell, I fall firmly on the side of Ian Tallmadge and Jennifer Bains and their hopes of using their Brunswick property to host weddings (“Brunswick Planning board shuts down farm weddings,” June 26). Having previously served as a member of the Harpswell Planning Board and working with the town administrator and her staff in the Planning Office, I count myself lucky not to have run into the same roadblocks as Casco Farmhouse.

Live Well Farm’s business plan didn’t come together without planning, compromise and negotiation, and I believe that our neighbors would concur that we have become a positive addition to the Harpswell community. Certainly, Brunswick and Harpswell merchants benefit directly from a revenue standpoint from our activities, as do the charities and fundraisers that LWF sponsors.

With appropriate give and take by both sides, noise and traffic issues raised by the opponents of the Casco Farmhouse can easily be mitigated.
