We are an older couple who have lived in North Yarmouth since 1983. We are on a fixed income and view the proposed development of the former North Yarmouth Middle School by A.H. Grover as the least expensive for taxpayers.
The proposal not only protects the aquifer but reuses the gym and positions the Wescustogo Hall on part of the existing footprint. It allows the town offices to remain separate and therefore not prone to another fire disaster.
The idea of the housing only for senior people reduces the pressure of the school property taxes and slows the trend of families moving here for the good schools and then leaving for less-expensive homes. Now they can just downsize and stay in the community they have grown to love.
We wish to stay in our home as long as possible and this Grover proposal seems to be the best answer we have yet seen.
