I am a musician and resident of North Yarmouth, proudly watching my sons flourish in School Administrative District 51. Over the years, we have attended concerts, demonstrations and lectures in a cafeteria, gymnasium or cafetorium.

Why do our academically top-ranked students perform in cafeterias and gymnasiums? Why must we strain to hear concerts, poems, or students projecting in an inadequate, multi-purpose room? Why must our students travel to experience cultural education? The proposed performing arts center at Greely High School would benefit residents and students. In addition to school enjoyment, the PAC could host visiting performances, traveling theatre, musical shows and guest lecturers, enriching our children daily, and the larger community at night.

Please vote yes to support the PAC on Nov. 8.
