We learned a great deal about the opioid crisis at a presentation March 24 at St. Mary’s Episcopal Church and hope others can attend the next two programs in the series “Responding to Maine’s Opioid Crisis.”
Many thanks to Falmouth Police Chief John Kilbride and the other presenters at the first session for their clear, informative and personal accounts.
The next program on Sunday, April 28, will focus on the biological consequences of addiction. The third, on Sunday, June 9, will be led by local community and business leaders who will focus on the sociological obstacles to recovery, from transportation and lodging to finding jobs. The presentations will be held from 4-6 p.m. at St. Mary’s on Route 88 in Falmouth.
We are grateful also for the town’s pilot project that tackles drug use through education in the schools and the community. Substance abuse disorder hits close to home for all of us. It ruins lives and devastates families.
