If you know state Rep. Mike Timmons personally, you already know he’s as honorable and honest as they come. This letter isn’t for you.

A year ago, Mike unexpectedly withdrew support on a bill to force Gov. Paul LePage to spend $11 million slated for 30 Land for Maine’s Future purchases. Two of the 30 were in Cumberland. Not one resident in five today could find these on a map. No matter; The Forecaster is still full of letters accusing Mike of crimes against humanity.

If LMF is your biggest worry, that’s fine. But others (like me) worry more about legislators who vote as if Maine government is far too small. LePage was just ranked the No. 1 fiscally responsible governor in the U.S. That ranking can’t happen without steady, disciplined fiscal conservatives like Mike in the Legislature. Programs like LMF depend on Maine having an economic future worth looking forward to.
