I am voting yes on Dec. 17 to begin the process of withdrawing from Regional School Unit 5. If we keep with the status quo and move forward to renovate and expand Freeport High School, the RSU budget will have to absorb the bond payments alongside whatever budget increases may be needed to address increased enrollments and new programming or professional development. Do you think the three communities will accept these increases, or will there be significant pressure on the School Board to cut existing programming or defer necessary investment in order to absorb the bond payments? What will happen when Morse Street School needs to be renovated in the next several years? How will we address the teacher salary gap between ourselves and our local peers?

We can do better. Please join me in voting to begin the process.
