The recent publicity about Amtrak’s expansion of service to Brunswick presents an opportunity for Falmouth residents to get on board for public transportation with a reinvigorated campaign to continue bus service between Falmouth and Portland. An updated marketing push involving businesses and residents would do much to increase awareness about the need to continue the Flyer.

Let’s update bus schedules and locations. Small-size timetable cards might be available at strategic locations. Fare charges should be included.

There are other good reasons to continue bus service. Many depend on it regularly, seniors need the bus, commuting drive-time is becoming more of a chore, parking availability and subsequent rising costs are prohibitive. So get on the bus; it is easy, fast, clean and inexpensive, and above all, it will help out our environment.
