I am the parade coordinator for North Yarmouth Fun Day on Sept. 21, and I have been fielding many phone calls in the past week, since Wescustogo Hall burned to the ground: Will Fun Day go on? We love the parade, what will happen?

I am writing to reassure everyone that we will certainly have a parade, and with everyone’s help, it will be a good one. We want to celebrate our town as we do every year. At 9 a.m., the parade will start on Route 115 at Fat Andy’s on Route 115 and go for a half mile up to North Yarmouth’s Village Green, adjacent to the Wescustogo Hall site. Anyone is welcome to join the parade; you can reach me at jess@pawsandplay.biz.

Two wonderful distinguished citizens will lead the parade this year: Ursula Baier and Bob Geyer. They are both very significant: Ursula is our town’s longtime historian and Bob is a longtime firefighter. We have lost a historic building, but people like Ursula are still here to tell its history, and Bob spent over 40 years as a member of the North Yarmouth Fire and Rescue that worked so hard to contain the blaze.

During the parade and with Fun Day we will thank them both.
