I am feeling so very fortunate to have been the person who delivered 13 pair of gloves and mittens, nine hats, three scarves, 12 hand warmers, and 360 pair of socks to the Rev. Jeffery Logan at Grace Street Ministry in Portland last week. Most of the socks were the thick, cozy and warm hiking style and were brand new. Members of the Justice and Outreach Ministry at the Foreside Community Church in Falmouth voted to donate funds as well as start a sock collection for Grace Street Ministry back in December. The Forecaster ran an article about the effort in January and the response of our church members and the community at large was amazing. I want to extend my gratitude to all who participated and made a difference in our community. Pastor Jeff was very appreciative and shared a story about a woman he had just visited in the hospital who had her foot amputated due to frostbite. The need is so great and I am so thankful for Pastor Jeff being available to the people in our community and recognizing their need for assistance and doing his best to fill the void for so many.
