In the fall of 2011, we enthusiastically purchased a house being built on Farm Gate Road in Tidewater Farm in Falmouth. We were very excited, as the Tidewater Farm Master Plan, which took several years to develop, outlined a plan that we were very comfortable with at this over-70 point in our lives. In addition, the plan had been endorsed by the Town Council, giving it the status of a town ordinance.

After 40 years, we were moving out of an area in Portland that was both residential and commercial, to an area in Falmouth that would allow us to take walks, use the Portland Trails system, give our dog more exercise room, and where we could enjoy the smells and sounds of a more bucolic environment. And we would not have to use our car to enjoy any of these amenities.

With Rivalries Sports Pub’s request to rezone TV4 comes the smells and noises of the city, the increased traffic on my street – already a very busy cut-through – and a restaurant and bar at the entrance to our residential community.

We would like to protest this request for a zoning and use change for the TV4 property and ask the Falmouth Town Council to keep the Tidewater Farm Master Plan as it was originally conceived and approved.
