For the past five years I have been a member of the Falmouth Memorial Library board of trustees and co-chairman of the Design Committee. As an architect I have helped guide the committee in decisions that support our main goals. Two major goals are to keep energy costs low and to avert the need to hire new staff. We were able to design a building that although twice the size, would not increase operating expenses.

Even though we have recently reassessed the project to find ways to reduce building costs, we have not lost sight of our goals. We want to reassure the community that we are dedicated to keeping future operating costs at a minimum while improving and increasing programming and community space.

I urge voters to support the library bond issue on Nov. 6.
