On Nov. 6, the voters of Falmouth are being asked to borrow another $500,000 over and above the $2.6 million that is already being borrowed for Falmouth Memorial Library. I will be voting no.

Like all residents of Falmouth, I support the library. I am voting no because the library has lost touch with what a library should be: By definition, “a place in which literary, musical, artistic, or reference materials are kept.” Not a programming hub that serves a few of the residents of Falmouth. We have community programs at Motz, along with three school libraries. We do not need duplication of services. With the expenditure of $5.2 million to expand the existing library, that should be more than enough for a library Falmouth can be proud of.
