Over the past two decades as Falmouth has grown in size, Falmouth Memorial Library has diligently kept pace with the increased demand on its resources, infrastructure and staff. The Internet and e-books have not resulted in decreased usage of this facility, rather it has introduced a new set of needs. The library is operating in an aging and constrained facility. In order to remain viable the library must be afforded the right to grow along with our community.

Since 1995 the library has experienced a 260 percent increase in circulation while inter-library loans have risen 2,000 percent, requiring more staff and additional space for processing. The misconception that libraries will no longer be needed is a fallacy. Here in Falmouth people are using the library more.

The expansion plans are cost effective, energy efficient, and honor the library’s founders. Right size, right location, right time. Vote yes Nov. 4 on the library expansion.
