I’d like to thank the Town Council of Falmouth for voting to give us sidewalks on Route 1 in the “Flats” area.

These sidewalks have greatly improved our quality of life and safety. As everyone knows, Route 1 is very busy. The people in my neighborhood use these sidewalks all the time. Now we walk, run and sometimes bike on these sidewalks without fear of being hit by cars. Weaving cars were a real fear for many of us, and some of us had several near misses before the sidewalks were installed.

We can now safely walk to Mackworth Island and Maine Audubon year round. We can walk at dusk or even when it is dark without fearing for our lives.
