In a public meeting April 10, the Falmouth Town Council completed the budget process for fiscal 2015. The budget presentations made by the town manager and the School Board demonstrated once again what a well-run town Falmouth truly is. It is important to recognize the hard work and dedication to fiscal responsibility that our town departments and school administration continue to exemplify. The budget process itself is a completely transparent and inclusive process for all members of our community, and it is a true reflection of our values. Important to all of us is the fact that our mil rate remains unchanged and the lowest of any town in our surrounding area.

But, fiscal discipline does not mean sacrificing quality or results. Our schools continue to be acclaimed at a national level by publications such as the Washington Post, Forbes, Newsweek, and U.S. News and World Report; and our scholastic teams (sports, music, debate, etc.) continue to achieve state championships. Also, Falmouth has been rewarded with the highest credit rating possible for a town our size while continuing to make smart investments in our open spaces, facilities and economic centers, and providing important supports to those in our community facing economic hardships.

The town and school budgets are easily accessed online, and as always, we encourage everyone to be involved and make sure your voice is heard.
