I just received an email announcing that the Falmouth Town Council was planning a site walk at the Freeport High School football field to look at the lighting, which is supposedly similar to that proposed for the so-called Town Center project. Of all the horrible features of this monstrosity the athletic facility is the by far the most objectionable. Falmouth has spent millions on its fields at the Woodville Road campus and they serve our needs well. I see no benefit to the town from this piece of the possible development (or frankly much of the rest of it, either). Rather, it is certain to make the traffic nightmare that is Route 1 worse. In the last go-around the developers said that the project wouldn’t go ahead without the athletic facility. If that’s still the case, great, let’s just kill this whole scheme now.
