I am writing in support of the Route 1 improvement project because it represents a much-needed face-lift and beautification project for a critical part of Falmouth. The new zoning and infrastructure improvements will encourage additional commercial and residential development, which is good for our tax base. Perhaps most importantly, the TIF financing leverages the value of our tax dollars; if this tax money were used for other purposes, it would be worth only a third of the value. It is a smart investment in Falmouth’s future and will make pedestrian and bicycle travel safer and easier. I also believe the design will keep automobile traffic flowing. I have strongly advocated for the importance of continued free flow of automobile traffic, and if elected to the Town Council, will work to ensure that is the case. Please join me in voting yes on the Route 1 project.
