I am so disappointed by EqualityMaine’s decision to support Democrat Mike Michaud as our next governor. I have contributed financially and volunteered for EQME, but can no longer support the organization.
Michaud’s record on LGBT issues is dismal. He hid his sexuality until forced to disclose and voted against equal rights for LGBT people. In contrast, Independent Eliot Cutler has always stood for LGBT equality.
EQME has a history of polluting Maine gubernatorial elections. The call to vote early for Libby Mitchell in the last election was a big factor in why we have Republican Gov. Paul LePage now. EQME has it wrong again.
I passionately support equal rights for every human being, but can no longer support EQME.
