State Senate candidate Cathy Nichols’ skills and civility are required in Augusta. Her broad background includes a degree focused on soil and water conservation, studying policy analysis at the Muskie School and 20 years’ experience helping private industry comply with complex environmental and safety regulations. Nichols understands that creating complex policy in Augusta will require listening to multiple opinions before crafting responsible legislation.

I met Nichols when she represented the nonpartisan Informed Women’s Network in organizing a rally to overturn the 3 percent tax surcharge in 2016. That rally helped jump-start the effort that ultimately eliminated it. Her opponent, Sen. Cathy Breen, D-Falmouth, supported the 3 percent tax despite her constituents’ overwhelming vote against it. Breen’s agenda contradicts our district’s position opposing higher taxes. Nichols opposed the 3 percent tax and Nichols has publicly opposed the proposed 3.8 percent tax.

Support Republican Cathy Nichols in Senate District 25. She speaks civilly, from her heart, not a partisan playbook.
