I am the mother of three boys and this is my ninth straight year with a student at Freeport High School. The benefits from Regional School Unit 5 are obvious to our family. The youngest has had more academic opportunities especially in science, stronger sports teams and a far more diverse social group, all the benefit of the RSU.

At the Town Council meeting Oct. 14, I heard many pro-withdrawal people say that pulling out of the RSU is a “gamble.” A gamble financially because the numbers simply are not clear and thus leading to a gamble for our children’s education. This is not something I am willing to gamble on. RSU 5 has great momentum towards an even stronger school system, best shown with the approval of the high school renovation. Lets keep moving forward together. Please vote no on Nov. 4.
