We are fortunate in having columnist Orlando Delogu, emeritis professor of law, to champion the long-term unemployed, food stamp recipients, the homeless and immigrant populations, who are in need of General Assistance. Delogu is clear and frank in pointing out the inconsistencies and shameless posturing and practices of Gov. Paul LePage and his sycophantic cohort, Department of Health and Human Services Commissioner Mary Mayhew. As Delogu points out, the need for General Assistance and meeting the needs of the homeless is obvious. Mayhew’s failure to re-certify Riverview was responsible for the state to lose over $30 million in federal aid. I can only say God bless you, professor; I’m sure thousands of Mainers are listening.
