I want to thank everyone involved in local government and politics for a great first-time experience in running for a local government office. As much as I have volunteered for political campaigns of various sizes and types, I was still not quite prepared for the experience of being a candidate instead of a supporter.

Thank you to Tody Justice, the best town clerk anywhere, for answering questions and making me feel comfortable that I was following all the rules appropriately and timely. Thank you to Tom Hall and all the town department heads who helped educate me on Scarborough history and the issues they are dealing with today. Thank you to the local press for their coverage that did a lot to help introduce me to the public. Thank you to the Scarborough Republican Committee, to Piper Shores, to the Higgins Beach group and to the Scarborough Chamber for taking the time to invite all of us to their candidate forums. Thank you to Paul Austin, Marilyn Pena, Judy Shirk, Susan DeWitt Wilder, and Emily Ward for organizing meet and greet events. Thank you to so many members of the public who took the time at the Farmers’ Market and at their doors to talk to me and tell me what issues were most important to them. And a huge thank you to those very special people who encouraged me to run, and thanks most of all to my financial supporters who made it possible for me to do so.

And to all of you who want to see reasoned decisions coming from transparent and communicative local officials — this was my first, but won’t be my last campaign. Thank you.
