State Rep. Janice Cooper, D-Yarmouth, is exactly the representative Yarmouth and House District 47 needs in Augusta. A thoughtful, hard-working woman, Janice approaches her role with an open mind, listens to her neighbors, and fights passionately for issues important to Yarmouth: tax fairness, climate change mitigation, gun safety. Importantly, she’s an integral part of a slim Democratic majority in the legislature. As challenging as the LePage years have been, this Democratic majority has been an essential buffer against the governor’s most worrisome proposals. With our 2018 governor’s race a virtual tie, it is essential that the state house remain in Democratic hands.

Finally, it’s increasingly likely issues such as the right to full reproductive health care will be thrown back to the states. Janice has worked for reproductive justice her entire life. She will be part of a Democratic firewall that will prevent Maine from regressing to a dangerous time for women.
