I am writing to endorse the candidacy of Democratic state Rep. Janice Cooper for re-election in House District 47.

Until recently, I have had little reason to embrace politicians, but Janice is a unique legislator who truly listens to her constituents and dedicates herself to achieving their needs. For many years, I have helped Mainers seek bankruptcy relief. Recently, aggressive bankruptcy trustees have compromised my efforts. When I learned they were seizing lobstermen’s boats and liquidating them because the law protecting fishing boats was outdated, I called Janice for help.

She worked tirelessly to change the exemptions so fishermen can now protect a boat up to 46 feet long, instead of losing most boats over 28 feet. Janice worked both quickly and zealously to get the legislation passed on an emergency basis to help both my clients and other Mainers protect our important fishing industry. For her efforts we should all praise Janice and support her candidacy.
