To the young men and women who attended the March 26 Skateboard Park workshop at South Portland City Hall: You inspired me with your preparation and advocacy for the project, and made me feel honored to be a member of your community. You richly deserve the unanimous City Council approval for moving ahead with the approved locations. As a resident of the Knightville neighborhood, let me say that our objection to the Legere Park site has always been about concrete, not kids. You are welcome any time to enjoy this beautiful little greenspace as it was intended to be. Bring your Frisbees, lacrosse sticks, soccer balls and footballs, mitts, and Wiffle bats. And feel free to keep on the grass.
