The Friends of Clapboard Island and its partners, the Falmouth Land Trust and Maine Coast Heritage Trust, are very grateful for the recent commitment of the Falmouth Town Council to help preserve the northern half of Clapboard Island and open it to public use. The town’s support is critical to the success of the project, and it will serve to attract more individual financial support beyond the $209,000 already raised. Falmouth has a history of actively looking to the future, making efforts to protect its character and environment and to provide public access. The council’s vote will continue this effort and help make the most of this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. Our sincere thanks to the council.
