Cape Elizabeth officials should be proactive and contact local “community banks” like Biddeford Savings, Gorham Savings, Bath Savings and Saco & Biddeford Savings (“Last bank to withdraw from Cape Elizabeth,” Sept. 20). It seems to me that a local “community bank” would be a very good fit for Cape Elizabeth. My suggestion would be for local officials to contact the president of each of the above banks and point out the need for banking services in Cape Elizabeth and the advantages that a local community bank could bring to the area. I’m confident a good case could be put together that would prove to be attractive to one or more of the community banks listed above.
