On behalf of the homeowners’ association at the end of Mere Point, I write to express our heartfelt thanks for the spectacular performance of the Brunswick Fire Department and the neighboring mutual aid fire companies of Topsham, Freeport, West Bath, Bath, Phippsburg, Lisbon, Harpswell, Cundy’s Harbor and Durham that assisted in containing the terrible fire that destroyed our neighbors’ home on West Marginal Road last Thursday night. We appreciate the challenges you encountered in fighting a large, fast burning fire at a remote location far from any viable water source. We are immensely grateful that no residents or firefighters suffered any injury and that you were able to keep the fire from engulfing the neighboring houses and woods.
