I am voting to re-elect state Sen. Cathy Breen, D-Falmouth, because I believe she works hard for the people of our community, is practical in her use of resources, and compassionate toward those in need of help. My beliefs are based on my experience this past year. When the Maine Turnpike Authority abruptly closed the Park and Ride at Exit 53 in November, to make room for the construction there, they left many ride-sharing commuters in Falmouth stranded. I called the MTA, but they basically said “tough luck.” When I contacted Cathy, however, she took action. Contacting the town of Falmouth and MTA authorities, she worked together with them to craft an inexpensive solution that got us commuters back on the road within weeks. To my mind this is what an effective state senator can be: responsive, cooperative, and fiscally responsible. I urge my fellow citizens to vote for her on Nov. 8.
