Regarding Edgar Allen Beem’s piece “Welcome to the United Suckers of America,” some people may be offended, but I thought it was great. To people who think his opinions on the influence of wealth in politics are extreme, look up some of the things said by U.S. Sen. Bernie Sanders, I-Vermont, who would certainly agree with Beem. Not to mention Doug Hughes, who recently landed his gyrocopter on the Capital lawn. And if one is open to some political humor, check out episodes of “The Daily Show” with Jon Stewart. I agree with Beem in hoping that working-class people wake up to their manipulation by certain rich and corporate interests.
