PORTLAND — Lester Edward Brown, 58, died peacefully July 26 with his family by his side at the Gosnell Memorial Hospice House in Scarborough.

He was born Nov. 20, 1954, to the late Parker and Barbara Brown. He grew up on his family’s farm in Cape Elizabeth and graduated from Cape Elizabeth High School.

Brown was a dedicated husband and father. He had a very strong work ethic and spent his last 20 years as a glazier for Cumberland County Glass. He loved boating and had a passion for growing beautiful dahlias. He was an avid Boston Red Sox and Jimmy Buffett fan.

Brown is survived by the love of his life, best friend and wife of 14 years, Cynthia Brown; his two sons, Eddie Cartonio and Corey Brown; his daughter in-law,  Hannah Maltby; grandson Valentino Cartonio; brothers Charles, James and Dennis; half-brothers Fredrick and Kenneth; and half-sister Cheryl Wilson.

Close friends and family are welcome to his home 1 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 2, at 217 Stevens Ave., Portland  for sea shanties and fish tales.
