Deering’s Dan LeGage (left, with former coach Dick Meader), who coached the Rams to a second Class A boys’ basketball state title back in March, was inducted into the University of Maine-Farmington Hall of Fame last weekend. LeGage graduated from UMF in 1995. He was an all-conference and All-Maine Team selection in 1993 and 1994. LeGage graduated as the program’s fourth all-time leading scorer (1,368 points) and the leader in made 3-pointers (168). LeGage is also second in career steals, third in 3-point field goal percentage and fifth in assists. LeGage has coached Deering since the 2002-03 season and has led the Rams to their only state championships. LeGage, who teaches science at Deering, has twice been chosen as The Forecaster’s Coach of the Year.
