FREEPORT – Lawrence  L. “Larry” Mitch Jr., 61, died June 30. 

On May 18, 1948, he was born in Watertown, N.Y., a son of Concetta (Galante) and Lawrence L. Mitch Sr. 

He grew up in Rochester, N.Y., and attended local schools before attending Unity College.  After graduation, he began a 34-year teaching career for the City of Portland, retiring in 2008 as an eighth grade science teacher at King Middle School, where he taught from 1981-2008.

He was an avid golfer and had a great love for the New York Yankees. 

His family will remember him as a good husband and father.

He was predeceased by his parents and his brother Eugene.

Surviving are his wife of 25 years, Denise (Zorrilla) Mitch of Freeport; his daughter, Alexandra Mitch and his son, Nicholas Mitch, both of Freeport; his brother Anthony Mitch of West Virginia; his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Joan and Ricardo Zorrilla of Freeport; aunts; nieces and nephews; and best friends, Holly and Charlie Miranda of Westbrook. 

Memorial services were held last week.

Arrangements are by Lindquist Funeral Home, 1 Mayberry Lane, Yarmouth.
