TOPSHAM — Laura Sims Miniszek, 93, formerly of Brattleboro, Vt., died May 15 at The Highlands in Topsham.
Born in Concord, N.H. on July 1, 1917, she was a daughter of Burt and Alena Stevens Sims.
She graduated from the University of New Hampshire in 1940.
During World War II she served as a plane spotter in Palm Springs, Calif.
On June 1, 1942, she married Dr. James Haight Miniszek.
She was a deaconess at Center Congregational Church in Brattleboro, Vt., and was an honorary director of the Brattleboro Memorial Hospital Auxiliary, and served as a board member of the Holton Memorial Home.
In March 1991 her husband of 49 years, James, predeceased her.
Surviving are her four daughters, Jane M. Weigarten of Denver, Colo., Sally M. Babcock of South Freeport, and Falls Church, Va., Ann M. Jule of Rye, N.H., and Nancy A. Cooper of Danbury, N.H.; and five grandchildren, Josiah H. Babcock, Samuel S. Babcock, Jed B. Weingarten, James A. Weingarten and Alena A. Jule.
There will be a private family service.
