PORTLAND — Accordionist Peter Blackstone will lead the second annual Deering Oaks Lantern Walk beginning at 6 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 16, at the park, according to a Friends of Deering Oaks press release.
Visitors are invited to gather at 5 p.m. at Tiqa Cafe & Bakery in the park “Castle” for free hot chocolate and s’mores, and a performance by musician Putnam Smith before walking around the pond, wading pool and bridge.
Visitors are also invited to a lantern-making workshop led by artist Christina Bechstein on Saturday, Oct. 15, from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. at the park. The public is also invited to bring their own lanterns for the walk.
Rain date for the event is Sunday, Oct. 23.
