FALMOUTH — Keith C. Bowen, 72, died Nov. 12 at sunrise following a brief battle with pancreatic cancer.  

On Sept. 27, 1937, he was born in New Brunswick, Canada, the son of Charles and Alma Doughty Bowen.

The family moved to Maine and he graduated from South Portland High School. After graduation, he served in the U.S. Navy for two years and upon returning to Maine, he studied accounting at the University of Maine. 

In 1959 he began his 36-year career with the Guy Gannett Broadcasting Company, starting in the accounting department and retiring as head of the business department.

He was an active member of the First Baptist Church in Portland, where he served as treasurer for 13 years.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 50 years, Carolyn Garsoe Bowen; four daughters, Laurie Brown of Portland, Betsy Oulton and her husband Paul of Falmouth, Kristin Ruff and her husband Tim of Utah and Theresa Witham and her husband Steve of Falmouth; five grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and his sister Jean Goff and her husband Butch of North Yarmouth.

The funeral service was held Tuesday at the First Baptist Church.
