BOWDOIN — KathyJo (Haines) Barnes, 44, died Dec. 20 at Parkview Medical Center with her husband and friends by her side after a six month battle with cancer.
Born Jan. 16, 1965, in Brunswick, she was a daughter of Earl and Barbara Haines.
In 1983 she graduated from Mt. Ararat High School and three years later, married Terry M. Barnes in 1986.
She worked part-time at Cook’s Corner McDonald’s until she became ill earlier this year.
She was active in the community as a scout leader and coach and most recently served as vice president of the Bowdoin Fire & Rescue Auxiliary.
Her interests included camping, rubber stamping, reading, playing dominoes with friends and moving the furniture around when her husband was at work.
She was predeceased by her mother, Barbara (Williams) Haines, on Feb. 1, 2003.
She is survived by her husband of 23 years, Terry M. Barnes Sr.; her son, Cpl. Terry “TJ” M. Barnes, Jr., USMC, her daughter, Pvt. Jessica Barbara Barnes, USMC; her father and stepmother Earl “Lucky” and Patty Haines; three brothers, Monte, Randy and Kirk Haines and a sister, Marlene Osentowski; and 19 nieces and nephews.
Friends and family are invited to visit from 5-7 p.m., Wednesday, Dec. 23 at Brackett Funeral Home, 29 Federal St., Brunswick. A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 26 at Brackett Funeral Home, 29 Federal St., Brunswick.
