PORTLAND — Kathryn Louise (Dow) Maietta, 90, died June 24 from Alzheimer’s disease after a long stay at Fallbrook Woods, an assisted-living facility.

Born in Bangor on April 20, 1920, she was a daughter of Raymond and Mildred Dow.

In 1941 she married Philip A. Maietta of Portland.

After working as a hairdresser in Portland, she became an antiques dealer, which was a source of great joy for her.

She enjoyed summer visits to the family camp at Moosehead Lake and winters in Florida. She especially loved spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She had a long, interesting life and will be missed by many.

Her husband Philip predeceased her, as well as a sister, Doris Fuller, and a brother, Lawrence Dow.

Surviving are her daughter, Dianne McNeil of Melbourne, Fla., and three sons, Philip and his wife Donna of Cape Elizabeth, James and his wife Cathy of Melbourne, Fla., and Neil and his wife Candice of Gray; eight grandchildren, Cathy Doyle, Lawrence Maietta, Susan Smith, Rachel McNeil, Christine Small, Jeffrey Maietta, Angela Cohen and Samuel Olenik; nine great-grandchildren, Ryan Bacher, Tyler and Bailey Small, Grace, Madeline and Gabriella Doyle, Zacharia, Samuel Jr., and Christopher Olenik; a niece, Meredith Young, and two nephews, John and Donald Fuller.

A visiting hour will be held from 10-11 a.m., Wednesday, June 30 at Hobbs Funeral Home, 230 Cottage Road, South Portland, with the funeral service following at 11 a.m. at the funeral home.
