PORTLAND — Kathleen G. Maguire, 86, of Portland died March 28, at her home.

She was born Jan. 23, 1928, in Portland, the daughter of Samuel J. and Alice G. Siteman Macisso. She was educated locally and a 1945 graduate of St. Joseph’s Academy. She went on to college completing her degree in 1949 at The College of Our Lady of Mercy, now Saint Joseph’s College.

She married Richard C. Coyne in 1950 and they raised three sons. He predeceased her in 1982. She worked briefly as a teacher, then as a full-time homemaker. She later took an active role in the family business, Eastern Book Company. In 1983, she met and married James Maguire. Together they raised his two children. He predeceased her in 1995.

She is survived by three sons, Richard J. Coyne and wife, Esther, of Scarborough, Stephen P. Coyne and wife, Kate, of Scarborough and Kevin P. Coyne and wife, Diann, of Portland; stepchildren, Mark Maguire and wife, Lisa, of Westbrook and Katie Maguire and husband, Keith Larson; five grandchildren, Richard P. Coyne, Shana Coyne, Sarah Coyne, Samuel Coyne and Rebecca Coyne; and four step-grandchildren, Casey Crockett, Kelly Maguire, Anthony Maguire and Ava Larson.

The family would like to thank all the caring staff and friends from Birchwoods at Canco Assisted Living as well as the VNA Home Health Hospice staff.

Visiting hours were held March 31, at Conroy-Tully Crawford Funeral Home, Portland. Prayers recited at the funeral home, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Peter’s Roman Catholic Church, Portland. Interment followed in Calvary Cemetery, South Portland.
