PORTLAND — An exhibit featuring some of the best student art will open next week at the University of Southern Maine’s Area Gallery in the Woodbury Campus Center.

The free exhibit, “USM Juried Student Art Exhibit: Selected Works,” will feature the work of USM student artists. Most of the works debuted last fall at USM’s Gorham Art Gallery.

The pieces to be displayed were selected by Massachusetts College of Art professor Jeremy Foss, USM curator Robyn Holman and Maine College of Art associate professor of sculptor and new media Ling-Wei Tsai.

The exhibit offers an opportunity for the public to enjoy the work of emerging artists while allowing student artists to see their work in a gallery setting, USM spokeswoman Laurie Mooney said in a press release.

The exhibit be open Monday through Friday from Jan. 15 to March 5. For more information long onto USM gallery Web site or call 780-2008.
