PORTLAND — The sixth annual “Stars and Stripes Spectacular” will commemorate the 150th anniversary of the great fire of 1866, while also celebrating Independence Day.
Celebration details were revealed Tuesday morning in a press conference hosted by nonprofit July 4th Portland.
The Portland Symphony Orchestra will perform its Patriotic Pops concert on Munjoy Hill before the annual fireworks display.
“We will explore the theme of ‘fire’ without actually setting fire to our tent,” PSO music director Robert Moody said. The PSO will play selections from movies including “Midway” and the latest “Star Wars” installment, “The Force Awakens.”
The rain date for the concert and fireworks is July 5.
